CITY OF POOLER
COUNCIL MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 2, 2014

The regular meeting of the Pooler City Council was held on September 2, 2014. Mayor Mike Lamb called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. (delayed due to waiting for a quorum). Present were Councilwoman Rebecca Benton, Councilwoman Shannon Black and Councilman Mike Royal. City Manager Robbie Byrd, Finance Officer/Assistant City Manager Michelle McNeely and City Attorney Steve Scheer were also present. Councilman David Burke and Councilman Stevie Wall were absent due to work.

The invocation was given by Mayor Lamb and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilwoman Black.

Report from the Standing Committees:

FINANCE
Councilman Royal presented bills in excess of $1500.00 to be approved at the next meeting.

PUBLIC SAFETY
Councilman Royal stated that the fire department responded to 127 calls since the last meeting, totaling 2007 calls for the year and that the police department responded to 1395 calls, totaling 20,708 for the year.

STREET/DRAINAGE
Councilwoman Benton reported that the street and drainage departments performed routine maintenance.

WATER/SEWER
Councilman Royal reported that the water and sewer departments performed routine maintenance and that all parameters are being met at the wastewater treatment plant.

RECREATION 
Councilwoman Black reported that practice continues for football, pep squad, fall soccer and men’s basketball and that tennis lessons are being offered.

BUILDING/ZONING
Councilwoman Benton reported that 11 new single family residential, one (1) attached unit and eight (8) commercial permits were issued since the last meeting, totaling 131 single family, 82 attached unit and 107 commercial permits for the year, with 3804 inspections performed. Further, that a PUD Review Board meeting is scheduled for September 8th.

Len Cutuli, President of the Pooler Lions Club, presented information regarding the “Fly the Flag Program” being sponsored as a fundraiser by the Lions Club.

Mayor Lamb read aloud a proclamation in regards to September 16th being “The American Legion Day”.

Mr. Scheer stated that due to provisions of the City’s Charter, being there were only three (3) Councilmembers present, the items on the agenda were not able to be acted upon and would be placed on the agenda for September 15th. 

Therefore, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:38 p.m.
