Hurricane Ian City Hall Closure | September 29-30

The State of Georgia and Chatham County have both issued a State of Emergency for Hurricane Ian. Due to the threat of severe weather conditions, Pooler City Hall will be closing Thursday, September 29 at 3:00 p.m. and will remain closed through the weekend. Pending any unforeseen weather or safety issues, we anticipate resuming normal business hours Monday, October 3.

REPORT SUBMITTED: Monday, June 13, 2022

LOCATION OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Pooler Water Reclamation Facility located at
1091 S. Rogers St., Pooler, GA

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: Failure of the Mechanical Fine Screen.

ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Estimated less than 9000 gallons.

RECEIVING WATERS: Hardin Canal. A tributary of the Ogeechee Water Shed

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: Failed mechanical screen was taken out of
service for repair. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide.

SPILL STATUS: Sewage is no longer leaking.

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE DISCHARGE:
Replacement of worn mechanical parts.

MINOR WASTEWATER DISCHARGE REPORTED TO EPD:

DATE OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Sunday, January 23, 2022

REPORT SUBMITTED: Monday, January 24, 2022

LOCATION OF MINOR DISCHARGE: 125 Ashwood Dr.

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: The cause of the discharge was a failed network control signal at the receiving lift station.

ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Estimated less than 9000 gallons.

RECEIVING WATERS: A curb inlet flowing to a drainage ditch contiguous to the City’s storm water system.

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: Faulty Hose replaced. Debris and Stormwater removed from the area and returned to sewer collection system for treatment. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide.

SPILL STATUS: Sewage is no longer leaking

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE DISCHARGE: Lift Station was controlled manually to stop the incident and the network issue was resolved.
